Introduction
If you are reading this then don’t worry – you are not alone! A staggering amount of people have absolutely no idea what lies inside that mysterious box that does your word processing and plays solitaire when the boss is not looking! So many of us spend every single day chained to a computer. We depend on them so heavily but have no idea how they work. At the very least, a basic level of knowledge is handy as computer terminology is common place these days and it’s important to know your RAM from your ROM when talking to support personnel or thinking about an upgrade.
Many people make bad buying decisions because the don’t know the importance of the various components that make up a PC. It’s easy to be bewildered by the array of options on PC specifications. Even a little knowledge goes a long way to stopping you spending too much money on components you don’t need and not enough on the ones that you do.
This guide contains no real technical depth and it is not designed to do so. For those of you that want to know more there are plenty of other websites out there. As always, any specific questions or comments can be emailed to us on info@dbits.co.uk or dbitsuk@hotmail.com
